I love my work because every day is different. Doing my PhD research (and particularly working from home most days) requires me to be motivated, self- disciplined and organised. I spend most days reading huge research papers and reports about technology, and trying to make sense of them and how they relate to what I am investigating/researching. I spend the rest of my work time writing about what I have read, and also interviewing people to get other opinions and perspectives about the technology I am researching.
So one day I will be working at home in my pj's with the next day jumping on a plane to present at a conference somewhere in Australia or around the world (my fave conference place was Acapulco!). Once I have finished a full day studying, I like to relax by making some beaded jewellery or creating a new wall mosaic or something equally creative and fun. Although my research work requires me to be very creative, it does hurt my brain after a long day, so I like to be creative in other ways. Often this means cooking something exotic and yummy for dinner!
