IT Recruitment is full of variety. I've worked in the industry for a number of years and find that no two days are the same and often there are new issues to resolve, new projects to work on and new opportunities to get involved in. I don't like routine, so for me variety in my job keeps
me motivated. Working in recruitment means we get exposure to so many different people - people with different technical skills and different levels, men/women, old/young, people with diverse ethnic backgrounds, lifestyles and needs, and, most interestingly, different personalities. You can never predict how someone will behave or react, so this creates a level of uncertainty and challenge.
Working in IT Recruitment we need to keep abreast of all technologies including emerging technologies and trends, so this means having to read IT magazines and newsletters as well as conducting research online. We spend a lot of time talking to clients and candidates either via telephone, email or face-to-face. Because we need to document all of this communication, there is a high proportion of administration in the role. Part of my role involves building my profile and promoting my company, so I often get involved in industry projects and speak at industry events,
which is something I've grown to love.
